my raw, unedited, LIVE interview at local national radio station 93.8FM with the DJs pamela & stanley (you guys are awesome and super cool for calming my fraught nerves!). listen to the 12-minute clip if you want to hear my nasal voice hemming and hawing about my art and my solo show. gosh, its too weird to hear myself.
thanks SCYA for arranging this and billy for being there to support me and for this great recording!

Ron Mueck | Mother and Baby | 2001 | Fiberglass resin, hair
Ron Mueck, my new idol. today i went to the Museum Brandhorst in munich, and i literally gasped when i came into one of the chambers in the museum and saw this quarter-life-sized extremely realistic sculpture of mother and child. i especially love the expression on the mother’s face, she looks like she’s regarding her baby as a stranger rather than the typical representations of childbirth as a scene where mother fondly embraces her child. fantastic work. i could even see the faint blue outlines of the ‘veins’ that the artist painted all across her translucent ‘skin’. BREATHTAKING. i exited the museum with a 0.99€ postcard of Mother and Baby sculpture with a VERY big smile on my face.

SINGAPORE TOY, GAMES & COMIC CON
i am mainly going to the singapore toy game comic convention because of 2 people.
1) MUNKAO (from malaysia)
ever since i saw his selfmade zine “I Wish My Girlfriend Can Draw” of illustrations.

“these particular artworks is purporsely hidden from the world because the world is my child and it fulfills my paternal instincts when i protect the world from obscenity” -source
tell me, how can you not already love him? this man is obscenely funny and witty and draws extremely well and i totally love the wicked humour in his work. MUST SEE.
2) camilla d’errico (i dunno where shes based now but shes half italian half canadian)
SHE ILLUSTRATED NEIL GAIMAN’S “How To Talk To Girls At Parties” BOOK COVER. nuff said.
well i never read any of his books but the people have raved about his work unanimously means i will pick up his book soon.
camilla is pretty famous internationally in the illustration circles (or at least the ones i follow) and i really admire her work, dedication and recognition.
